Description
Founded in 1913 by a group of English–Canadian Jesuits as a place of prayer and worship, the land today is a 240-hectares teacher, tutoring us by means of a physical, intellectual and spiritual experience of Earth and God in Creation.
The Ignatius Old-Growth Forest, the 500-year project is an initiative founded in 2006 by collaboration between the Ignatius Jesuit Centre and the Guelph International Resource Centre (GIRC). Forty hectares of land and water on the east side of Highway 6 will be restored to ecosystems similar to the original forest and waterway, and will be held in perpetuity by a conservation easement.
